Lake Texoma was a cold, windy, and stingy lake today with water temperatures still in the upper 40’s, but Joe Copeland and Red Rutherford figured them out and got it done to open the 2017 season with a big win! Joe and Red are no strangers to the winner’s circle, and when they walked up with their five fish stringer, everyone knew that the leader board might make a shift. Cassie Telles and Kevin Strickland had been sitting in the lead for a while, but at 3:54 PM, just six minutes before the cutoff time, the soon-to-be Tournament Champions Copeland and Rutherford walked up with a bag of fish that had just enough weight to put them at the top with 20.06 lbs. Allen Cassidy and Daryl Dudenhoeffer were just over two pounds out of second place, but their 7.77 kicker was good enough for the first Big Bass payout, which scored them some cash and a TFO rod. It was a tough day on the water for most, but congrats to everyone that came out and did battle!
